Filling a Gap in Grief Support for Young Adults
Three months after losing our mum to brain cancer, my sister and I launched We've All Got Dead People, a podcast for young adults navigating their first year of grief. There was nothing that captured what that first year actually feels like, in real time, without knowing how it ends. We wanted the conversations we were desperately craving but couldn't find. What we didn't plan was that recording episode by episode, a few months apart, we would end up capturing every stage of grief as we lived through it.
We talk about grief, mental health, and brain cancer - still shrouded in mystery, and so brutally unfair to the people it takes and the ones left behind. Cancer charities and therapists are amazing, but they can't be there at 3am. Maybe we can.
I handle full production from scratch: editing audio in Adobe Audition, cutting video in Premiere Pro, adding captions and graphics in CapCut, and distributing across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. I manage all social media strategy, pulling soundbites and clips for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, using platform analytics and TikTok Creator Search Insights to track performance and adjust based on what is working.
Six episodes in, we have achieved 34.6k YouTube views, 12.3k of those in the last seven days alone, a 100% Spotify conversion rate, a 7.13% Instagram engagement rate, and TikTok content totalling 41k views with strong shareability.
